Designing Effective Academic Posters
to the point
Clear at Glance - Six Basic Steps to Create a Professional Academic Poster
Poster sessions are an integral part of nearly every scientific conference. Their purpose is to highlight research results, visualize them, and stimulate discussion. To draw your audience in, you need a crystal-clear message, a text format optimized for best legibility and well-chosen graphics.

Basic rules of graphic design will help you to structure your research content in a visually well organized and convincing manner. The workshop also provides ample time for practice - participants come away from the course with their own designed or redesigned poster.

Scientific Posters: Concept + Design + Presentation = 100% Knowledge Transfer
Among other significant challenges researchers are requested to communicate their work and knowledge to a wide range of various audiences by means of academic posters and presentations.

The workshop conveys and trains the major skills how to conceptualize, visualize and finally present scientific content in a target-oriented, accessible and compelling manner and takes into account how closely design and presentations skills must be linked to successfully convey academic knowledge.

Design Skills and Adobe InDesign to Professionally Communicate Academic Content
The workshop conveys the key principles of graphic design and layout techniques and enables you to become quickly familiar with the handling of essential tools in Adobe InDesign. Participants have the opportunity to directly apply their new knowledge to design their own selected academic content - e.g. flyers, presentation slides, portfolios or research papers and they benefit from constructive and personal trainer feedback.

»It was important for me to understand the fundamental aspects of designing an academic poster and the trainer did an excellent job in communicating this information.«
Birgit LukowskiCommunication is Key
mindful
Based upon my extensive teaching experience in visual communication and in various academic contexts, all workshop concepts are developed offering you practice-oriented knowledge and practical training to conceptualize, design and present research content effectively and in a visually pleasing manner.

My approach is built upon the cornerstone that successful and target-oriented communication always requires the perfect interplay of three components: reasoned conception, excellent design skills and strong presentation competencies.
